Alice gets hot under the collar!
March 17, 2009
On Sunday, our very own Alice took part in the Bath Half Marathon along with eleven thousand others. If you look at the accompanying photo, Alice is twelve rows from the back next to the chap wearing a 118-118 wig and moustache.
The Half Marathon, with a distance of 13 miles, is a beast of a course straddling both sides of the River Avon and ending at Great Pulteney Street, one of the widest Georgian boulevards in Europe.
Asked how she faired, Alice said, “The Half Marathon’s strapline is ‘more than miles’ and as anyone who has been to Bath will attest, that’s an understatement – it has more hills than the French Alps.” She continued, “I was lapped by the winner at about Mile 4 and whilst the winter training did me good, it wasn’t much use on what was the hottest day of the year so far.”
She later was heard remarking, “I won’t be wearing high heels for a few weeks, that’s for sure
.”
